Child labor in India
We have all seen fireworks before. We see them on special occasions, as a way to celebrate holidays or even just to have a little fun.Though, do you know what hard work goes into making these fireworks? Do you know how many children suffer and even duie to produce them? Tamilnadu,India, is home to the largest firework making industry in the country.Workers, their, start at the age of 3 and half years old and work ten hours a day without fans or anything to cool them down. They have no protective gear such as gloves or masks, which are essential for the kind of work they do.
They work in sweatshops, rolling gunpowder, and making fireworks. When working at these dangerous jobs, most get killed or burned. This makes it not uncommon for children in India to die from the explosives. These children are practically forced to work under these conditions because everyday is a struggle to put food on the table for the family. These kids are only getting payed 100 rupies a day which is two US dollars today.
